The Southtown's John K. Ryan has one of the first and only detailed looks at the financially bloated Orland Fire Protection District. Here's the link: southtownstar.suntimes.com/3994206-522/fiery-debate-over-orland-fire-protection-district-budget.htmlWhat the OFPD Chief Bryant Krizik doesn't answer is why it costs so much, only that he is happy that they have so much. Does it really do Orland Park any good? Tinley funds their fire department for only $4 million (plus other village support) but the Orland Fire Protection District is $30 million. Why? The article paints the Tinley District saying they have very little, but if they doubled their budget to $8 million, they would still be almost four times less than Orland Park. Ra

If you think the current cost is huge wait till the legacy costs kick in. Your looking at 45+ million in 8-10 years. Retirement and benifit costs for life plus a replacement. Then 40+ administration political jobs at 5+ million a year. A 5 million training center we didn't need, Tinley park said we could have used there's. Millions in equipment that has a return on investment of zero ! We need to go back to the 2000 budget and keep it there. We need a successful private sector business man to run this dept. The union will never give an inch. Thus we have to go back to the OPFD as we have no other choice. Then we can rehire at new terms that are sustainable to the taxpayers.
